Company’s A and B of the 44th NCB were assigned to be attached to the 4th Marine Battalion on the Atoll, adjacent to Fort Nui, somewhere in the South Pacific. The Papa, wanting his neighbours to feel welcome in their new tropical digs, enlisted the help of his favourite millinery maestro, Troy O’Shea with a brief to build a specific unit cap. Using a beautiful light and soft Japanese wool flannel in the much desired colours of our sailors in forest green, and lining the under visor with vintage shelter half canvas, Troy has again outdone his reputation with this outstanding salute to our fighting construction battalions. Chain stitching the front crown using his vintage singer machine, Troy has emblazoned the numerals 44 in Devil Dog red as a nod to their secondment. Finished with a cotton twill sweatband and silk trim, this cap is a must have piece, available is ever so limited quantities. For best fit result cold water soak, mold to head shape and wear till dry.
This is the start of our relationship, it will the be the first of I hope many Papa Nui products. I’m the son of a leatherneck Vietnam vet. Proud to wear this shirt!
