“To Hell with Spain, Remember the Maine!” A battle cry on their lips! An homage from the Papa as he knits a watch cap that speaks to the century’s turn, to the birth of empire, to the beginnings of homogeny. The Maine Cap!
This 1898 U.S.N. Knit has been extensively researched from archival photos and reversed engineered by hand knit in a gorgeous lightweight 100% Corriedale Peruvian Worsted wool evoking the ‘seed stitch’ of yesteryear and saluting the iconic predecessor of all naval watch caps. Unmatched warmth to weight ratio!
Stand the watch, be the pride of the fleet, wear the Maine Cap.
-Completely handmade in Montana USA.
-100% wool.
-Available in Havana Black in an exclusive historical release.
-One size fits most as well is extremely stretchy and accomodating.
-Includes 1930's Red Cross donor pocket tinny. ( see main photo)
***NOTE: The Maine cap is not subject to discounting. Each watch cap is hand made in exceedingly small quantities and as such is not to be sold at a lesser price. I will not honour any abandoned check out discounting on this item, if you have to think about it chances are it'll be gone before you get back to your cart.
10/10, it’s perfectly shaped and sized even for my big head. A jewel in the collection.
awesome thank you!

Got one! (Finally)
A real piece of functional artwork. The wool…Corriedale Peruvian; wow, not a hint of ichy-ness! Surprisingly, lightweight, but effective at keeping the chill at bay! Truly, a cut above the rest of the crew and their std. 782 winter headgear! Now if we could just persuade the Papa to put a boot in the supply chain commander’s posterior to churn out a few more in black…(for covert night raids onto the north coast of Hokkaido) - I could have a matching set!
Well done William glad you scored one.

The Perfect Accessory for the Partigiani
Lightweight and comfortable for patrolling the mountain passes of the Piedmont, stylish enough for slipping into town to gather intelligence (and having a quick Negroni). The GI materials make it a good passport through Allied lines, in case you need to link up with some passing British unit. Tante grazia, Papa!

This is a pair of trunks. There are many like it, but this one is mine
Well, to be honest, there are not that great many like the Papa's. Imagine a pair of trunks in their most pure, simple, purpose-oriented form: nothing to take away, nothing to add. Perfect. This is what it is.

For a stepdad
Damn fine shirt for the dude that went through 'Nam AND married my mom!
Another fantastic piece of headwear from the Papa. Quality unparalleled as always. Beautiful knitting and a lovely earthy rust to set this watch cap off. Top marks sir.
This cap is something else. After you soak it as directed, it fits your head perfectly like it was made to measure. The brim has some snap to it and you can wear it normally or pop it up for a different look. Even more, it smells great like good leather should.
