Arriving press from the USA dug into their new lodgings in downtown Saigon and reported on the war from the comfort of teak verandah chairs and ice cold drinks. Very few had the moxie to go seek out the VC in his jungle hideouts, preferring to glean 'skewed' news from local sources like , Pham Xuan An, who representing Time and Rueters was eventually post war, outed as being a Communist double agent.

Some from of the crew from Newsweek went down the road to visit Nguyen and Mamasan. The mom and pop set up down on Dong Khoi street, copied the very storied visors bought by the Newsweek staff and made them over into something a little more befitting the surroundings, equal parts in the field and mixed memento.
