Lance, blond, sun-tanned and possessing a legendary cutback, is from Southern California and on his first tour of Vietnam as part of the 'Brown Water' Navy, aboard a River Patrol boat. Assigned to ferry a Special Forces Captain up the Nung River, Lance meets Colonel Kilgore of the 1st of the 9th Air can at Vin Drin Dop, or 'Charlie's Point' and so unfolds one of the most famous Surfing adventures ever.
